Close your eyes for a moment and try to imagine. What is your wedding day like? Do you envision a solemn, intimate affair in a quaint little church or do you envision a grand celebration complete with all your extended family, cliques and colleagues?
This exercise is crucial in helping you decide the right church for your wedding. Here are some of the factors to consider when selecting your church.
1. Number of guests. How big a crowd are you most likely to invite, and among those you have invited, what percentage are actually going to attend? Can your chosen church accommodate the estimated number of attendees? Or is the church too big to host only  a handful of guests?
2. Dramatic effects - check out the church door and length of aisle. Are you the type who will savor the moment, capture the drama from all angles? Or are you the shy type, trying to shun the attention and just want THE march to be as simple and short as possible?
3. Church rules. Some church impose rules to emphasize the solemnity of the occasion, while some are more lenient, allowing gimmicks to make your big day truly personalized. Check out the rules before you sign up for the reservation. Ensure that you still have time to complete the required documents.
4. Own priest. Some couples have prefer having their own, friendly priest to solemnize their big day. Some church allow bringing your own priest, while some require having their parish priest to officiate the wedding.
5. Price, amenities and proximity to reception. Decide if the fee is reasonable and if it fits your budget. Other factors to consider are availability of parking, aircon (if this matters to you or your guests), proximity to reception, accessibility for guests who might be commuting, etc.
Check out the internet to create a short list of possible churches and if your time permits, do an actual occular visit. When visiting the church, do stand at the aisle and close your eyes for a moment. Do you see yourself marching down this aisle in your wedding gown?
